Book presentations
The association was founded in memory of
Elisabetta Federico
so that what happened to Lisa would never happen again.
Lisa Federico
Elisabetta Federico, born in Ukraine in 2003, lived in Rome since her adoption at the beginning of 2009 till November 3rd 2020, when she flew away due to the consequences of an ill-advised bone marrow transplant. The previous summer, she had been diagnosed with a hematological, but not oncological, disease after the appearance of a large bruise, following a fall from her electric kick-scooter. At the hospital she had turned to, the doctors decided to submit her to the riskiest treatment without any first-line therapy.
L.I.S.A. Fighting Together for Adolescent Healthcare AVO advocates for more committed and dedicated health care for children and adolescents, particularly those with oncologic or hematologic diseases.
The association strives to ensure that the rights of sick children and adolescents are fully respected. It organizes and promotes comparisons for updates on the diagnosis and therapies of pediatric and adolescent oncologic/hematologic diseases.
Furthermore, it intends to monitor practiced therapies and bone marrow transplantation procedures, also by collecting information from patients and their relatives.
The organization is active in improving bone marrow and hematopoietic and stem cell transplantation protocols and monitors their application.
